Merry Christmas from the Alter Eagles

Well, we were all alone at the end of the evening and a little refreshed but thought we'd send you this - an Eagles christmas song with our thanks for all your support. Here's hoping you have a great Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year. We'll see you in 2015. Take it easy - Sam, Al, Jay, Mike, Matt and Rob.

Spring Arts & Heritage Centre

It's our fifth or sixth time back at the Spring (no-one's quite sure) so to mix things up we've re-jigged the auditorium to accommodate both seating and standing. This should make the atmosphere even better and means that - for the first time at this venue - we'll be building. a stage. Normally, we're on the floor looking up at the audience on raked seating. Not this time. Should be cool.

West Byfleet

So we're here and after the disappointment of the football (at least for Jay and Rob - and Sam a bit) we're setting up for tonight's gig. Well, some of us are. We're in the bar waiting our turn and watching the rugby. Apparently it's like football but not as good.

Anyhow, we'll be kicking off about 9.00pm tonight bringing the Eagles' greatest hits to leafy Surrey. Still tickets left, so come on down. We're excited because tonight we don't have to change in the snooker room. While they're still playing snooker.

Winterstock

Well, well, well. That was pretty extraordinary. On Saturday the band played a 50th birthday party the like of which we've never seen before (and believe us when we say we've been to a few good parties). We were part of an evening which included the excellent Fleetwood Bac, a Johnny Cash tribute, the 60s Explosion, some of the cast of Hair and Eliza Doolittle (who, after schmoozing around in the posher parts of the party, played but a single song). Extraordinary.

The whole event was held inside heated yurts with full sound and lighting (there was a car inside as well but we won't go into that) as well as a pizza oven and the finest - seriously, the finest - hamburgers Mike, Jay and Rob have ever tasted. Hospitality was top-notch, organisation was friendly and efficient and - Al's unfortunate stool incident to one side - the band thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

It was also interesting because for once, we didn't write the set list and therefore played what our hosts actually wanted - rather than what we assumed they'd want. The results were surprising but made for an interesting and warmly received set.

So thanks to Maxine and Nick for inviting us and cheers to Atom for the organisation. We're unlikely to play another gig quite like that one. At least until next time.

He looks in his eyes

The music begins to play. Unlike the real thing, our boys actually get on with each other - on and off stage. And to prove it, here's Mike and Sam enjoying each other's company post gig at Murphy's Roadhouse. That was one hot night.

Dinner time

So we're all set up at Murphy's Roadhouse in Paignton and the chaps are tucking into their pre-gig scoff. Soundcheck was good - cheers Glenn - and it's going to be busy tonight. Once again we've been very well looked after, so here's to a good night.

Fuel

The remains of an atomic breakfast, courtesy of Chris and Janet at the Square and Compass, as fine a pair of hosts as any Eagles tribute could wish for.

Thanks to everyone who turned out last night and gave us such a warm welcome - you were a great audience and we really enjoyed ourselves. Brilliant singing as well - Take It To The Limit never sounded so huge.

So now we're on the way to Paignton for tonight's gig at Murphy's Roadhouse. See you later.
